When people think of Florida, they typically think of images like palm trees, tropical beaches, citrus fruit, and maybe even an alligator or two. But as a St. Augustine resident and wedding photographer, I’m here to challenge that beautiful beachy stereotype! Picture instead cobblestone streets and historic buildings, European-inspired architecture, and quaint shops and restaurants. St. Augustine wedding venues are a refreshing take on Florida beauty, which is bizarre considering that it’s the oldest city in the United States with European roots dating all the way back to 1565!
Whether you live in Florida or are looking for a unique destination getaway for a romantic wedding, St. Augustine is definitely a place to consider. Here are a few of my favorite St. Augustine wedding venues to inspire your Florida wedding daydreams!
24 Cathedral Place, Suite 11, St. Augustine, FL 32804
The Treasury on the Plaza originally opened as a bank in 1927, an elegant beacon of prosperity and wealth. In the years since it’s been reimagined and renovated to become a premier event venue that embraces the building’s history while updating it to provide modern conveniences. With art-deco detailing, soaring ceilings, and opulent architecture, The Treasury on the Plaza is the perfect space to host a wedding that exudes “quintessential romance, with a touch of glamor.” The Grand Ballroom is a show-stopping space, complete with an amazing bar created from one of the bank’s original vaults!
75 King Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084
The Lightner Museum is another historic St. Augustine venue with a fun history. Built in 1988 as the Alcazar Hotel the building became a testament to the opulence and cultural refinement of the Gilded Age. After closing in the 1930s, the building was purchased by Otto Lightner, who converted the hotel into a Museum of Hobbies. Today, the museum showcases exhibits and artifacts from around the world and has become a versatile and elegant event venue! They have a beautiful terrace and garden that are ideal for outdoor celebrations, and the Historic Pool (yes, it actually was once the world’s largest indoor swimming pool!) is a breathtaking and immersive space for an unforgettable celebration.

St. Augustine is also home to Flagler College, a private liberal arts college known for its gorgeous, historic campus. Once the Ponce de Leon hotel, built by railroad magnate and oil tycoon Henry Flagler in the late 1800s, the campus is an incredible place to host an opulent wedding. Flagler College offers several venue options. Including the famous Ponce de Leon Ballroom, widely considered one of the world’s finest examples of Spanish Renaissance architecture. Complete with Tiffany stained glass windows and stately wooden columns. There’s also the domed and sunny Ponce de Leon Solarium and the dramatic Ponce de Leon Rotunda that can be used for ceremonies and receptions.
205 St Johns Golf Dr., St. Augustine, FL 32092
St. Johns Golf & Country Club is a sprawling golf course with 5-star amenities that make hosting a luxury wedding a breeze! You can say “I do” on the lush green lawn, surrounded by a beautiful pond and stunning golf course views. Their signature event space, The View at the Bridge, is a gorgeous room with vaulted ceilings, rich wooden beams and rustic accents, and walls of windows looking out over the green landscape. Their special events team will help you curate the wedding of your dreams. However you envision it to feel and look!
