Downtown Orlando holds lots of surprises. Walking down Church Street, just a few blocks over from Camping World Stadium, you would probably walk right past the unassuming warehouse with the sign-out front reading “Prange Brake & Wheel Alignment.” Then again, that’s exactly what a speakeasy would want you to do. Inside, however, you’ll find an incredible secret venue that has been reimagined as a nod to the Prohibition era of 100 years ago. Whether you’re dreaming of a Gatsby-inspired wedding, a celebration with an industrial aesthetic, or an indoor garden paradise, the world is your oyster with a 1010 West wedding.
1010 West Church Street, Orlando, FL 32805
The storefront exterior of 1010 West hasn’t been changed much since it was first opened in the early 1900s. Its sheet metal walls, gates, and vintage signage are reminiscent of its past. But when you walk through the doors, you’ll be blown away by what’s inside. Affectionately referred to as “The Hidden Hangar” and “The Speakeasy,” the event space within is unlike anything you would expect from the outside – perfect for surprising your guests. The room itself is a repurposed turn-of-the-century airplane hangar and creates an ambiance that is both industrial and romantic. Its Speakeasy vibes are perfect for a chic, playful gathering that doesn’t compromise on style or spirit!
When you enter 1010 West wedding venue, you’ll be instantly impressed by the lofted hangar ceilings supported by arched industrial beams. Strings of market lights hang overhead, and other hanging light fixtures like chandeliers can be affixed to create a beautiful ambiance (keep in mind there are no windows, so it’s definitely an underground secret Speakeasy vibe.) The walls are covered in rustic wood paneling and feature beautiful barn doors for an extra special touch. Other features like polished cement floors and exposed brick accents contribute to the venue’s vintage aesthetic.
1010 West’s repurposed airline hangar is an incredibly unique space that can also be flexibly used for your event. The main hangar room offers approximately 5300 square feet of usable space. It’s a lovely setting for a romantic ceremony or for a warm and inviting reception for up to 200 guests. You can certainly use the space for both, but you’ll need to either have a smaller, intimate guest list or a team that can help flip the space while your guests attend cocktail hour nearby. Otherwise, it’s a great reception space following a ceremony at a nearby religious institution, park, or other venue.
The beautiful architectural and design details of 1010 West are lovely to incorporate into wedding photos. The wood-paneled walls, exposed brick, and barn doors are all fun backdrops to play with. However, since it isn’t a particularly large space, it can be a challenge to get all the pictures you want. Especially in the space with your event being set up or before guests arrive. Luckily, we can always step outside and take some unique industrial shots with the exterior of the building or take a walk downtown for some awesome outdoor photos!
A 1010 West wedding includes a few notable perks, including air conditioning (a must in Orlando, especially in the spring/summer/fall), banquet and cocktail tables with mahogany chairs, valet parking, and plenty of custom lighting options. They also have a built-in bar and venue staff around to make sure your event runs smoothly. Check out their inventory of vintage furniture available to rent. But don’t forget to take advantage of the 1010 Party Truck for an extra fun touch!
