2143 Astor Street, Orange Park, FL 32073
Club Continental wedding venue is a beautiful private club with a rich history of hospitality and entertainment. In the 1880s, a gentleman named BJ Johnson, founder of the Palmolive Soap Company, bought the Orange Park property. He aimed to escape bitter Wisconsin winters with his family. His son, Caleb, and his wife, Elinor, built a Mediterranean-inspired building they named Mira Rio. The family hosted a variety of guests over the years for parties and activities, sharing their beautiful 9-bedroom home with friends and family.
But in 1966, Mira Rio was converted into a private member club, and in the years that followed, amenities like seven tennis courts, three swimming pools, and twenty-two guest rooms were added. Today, the Club Continental is still managed by the original family and has a membership of over 700 people.
The Club Continental is a gorgeous venue with a variety of spaces that can be used for hosting an incredible wedding.
For your ceremony, you can say “I do” on the club’s terrace that overlooks the sparkling St. John’s River. Framed by palm trees and a centuries-old oak tree draped in Spanish moss, it’s an incredibly picturesque site for an elegant vow exchange. Then, once you’re officially declared a married couple, your guests can enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on an outdoor patio overlooking beautiful gardens, pools, and the gorgeous river.
The Club Continental is also home to a series of wedding banquet rooms and rental spaces of all shapes and sizes. The Garden Room is their largest venue, a gorgeous glass-enclosed room with views of the river, gardens, and pools. Beautiful archways and columns are elegant touches to a formal space that can accommodate up to 100 people. The Fireplace Room creates a lovely space centered around a magnificent stone fireplace with a 9-foot mantle. This fantastic room hosts up to 60. The Main Dining Room is a stately room with picturesque windows overlooking the window. Details like wrought iron chandeliers as well as French doors leading out to the patio perfectly host an event with 50 people.
These and other spaces are available to curate the absolute wedding of your dreams!
The Club Continental’s gorgeous location offers so many opportunities for stunning wedding photos. The banks of the river make perfectly gorgeous waterfront portraits, especially when positioned beneath the mossy canopy of tree branches overhead. The exterior of the building is another fabulous backdrop with arched windows and walls covered in ivy. The gardens include features like simple footbridges, ponds, and benches that are also lovely to play with in portraits.
