259 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084
The Carriage House is one of two venues owned by House of Assembly Events. The company created its original venue, Art ‘n Motion, with the intent to bring a fresh new venue to “Old Town” St. Augustine that would both fit in and stand out at the same time. Whereas Art ‘n Motion is a beautiful industrial-inspired space, The Carriage House represents a more rustic approach to a celebration.
Formerly known as “The Pioneer Barn” when it was once a part of Fort Menendez, The Carriage House has been reimagined as a high-end event space. With climate control and features like exposed beams, iconic barn doors, and a carriage-wheel chandelier, it’s a wonderful place for a wedding full of rustic romance. Plus, it’s conveniently within walking distance of newly renovated hotels, which your guests will love!
Begin your wedding day by getting ready in the “Bridle Room” – a clever play on words that is also an homage to the barn’s original purpose. Totally renovated in 2018, the Bridle Room has comfortable sitting areas, an extra-long makeup counter, and shabby-chic decor.
For an outdoor ceremony, you can choose to say “I do” in one of two locations: The Carriage Courtyard or the Garden. The Carriage Courtyard uses the face of the barn as a beautiful backdrop for a ceremony, and string lights overhead set a special romantic vibe. The Garden is the newest addition to the venue, enclosing you and your guests with overhanging mature trees and a natural water feature. You, your partner, and your parties can make beautiful entrances through barn door-inspired gates, making your way down the garden path, over the footbridge, and onto the ceremony stage. Both of these spaces are also great choices for a cocktail hour, too!
The inside of The Carriage House boasts a variety of rustic features, such as exposed wooden beams, a large rustic barn, and a chandelier made out of an antique carriage wheel. This open, inviting space has room for up to 130 guests. However, the venue recommends smaller events of up to 50 people throughout the summer, as even with air conditioning, the space can get uncomfortably warm with large groups. A few steps outside of the barn is the Farmhouse Porch, complete with rocking chairs and market lights. It’s a great spot for backyard games and casual cocktails!
The Carriage House offers a variety of unique, rustic backdrops for photos. From their beautiful barn exterior to the lush gardens on the property, there are plenty of ways to put this picturesque venue to good use. Details like a small wooden footbridge, exotic Florida landscaping, and antique doors and decor all make for stunning wedding day pictures.
When you choose to host your wedding at The Carriage House, you’ll be working with a professional planner. They help you choose the perfect vendors for your event (or bring in your own outside planner, if you choose!) But you are welcome to use any licensed and insured vendors. However, they do provide a list of their preferred companies should you need recommendations.
The Carriage House offers two wedding packages from which you can choose. One works well for couples who want to have a little more control over their vendor team and planning. Meanwhile, the other is an all-inclusive option that helps alleviate the stresses of wedding planning. Your style and color preferences will still be a part of your wedding day. It will just be easier to get exactly the look you want but with minimal stress!
The Carriage House in St. Augustine makes the perfect place to host a rustic barn-inspired wedding. But a rustic celebration doesn’t mean having to sacrifice quality! As your wedding photographer, I’ll make sure every one of your wedding photos embraces the authentic beauty of the venue. All while still showcasing you and your partner in the most incredible ways.
