1001 Citrus Avenue, Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida 34737
The Howey Mansion was the passion project of citrus industry innovator and politician William J. Howey. He originally owned 60,000 acres of Florida land, many of which he planted with citrus trees, saving one of the best spots for his private estate. Built in 1927, their Mediterranean Revival-style home was designed to be hospitably opulent with magnificent feats of craftsmanship and architecture. Over the years, the home – and its 16 acres of surrounding parkland – welcomed presidents, celebrities, and other esteemed guests.
But as time went on, the Howey Mansion was eventually abandoned and fell into disrepair. That is, until 2017, when it was purchased by Orlando real estate investors and entrepreneurs Brad and Clay Cowherd. They meticulously restored the mansion and converted it into an amazing event venue, restoring it to its former glory so it could once again welcome guests of honor with pride.
The Howey Mansion Estate is an exquisite property with several beautiful settings for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions. You can utilize each space however you like, curating an event that upholds your lifelong vision of a dream wedding.
The indoor Ballroom is a spectacular space for an intimate wedding ceremony or a lively reception. A breathtaking fireplace with an enormous wooden frame and mantle is a romantic backdrop for a vow exchange. Rich hardwood floors and a ceiling lined with mahogany beams add an extra historical touch to the space.
Outdoors, the backyard offers an elegant stone patio that is perfect for a stunning ceremony. Beautiful arched windows, tall palm trees, and colorful stonework all add charm and character to the space. It can also be used for al fresco cocktail hours or a dinner party beneath the stars.
Additionally, you can opt to utilize a tent on the lawn for your celebration, which is highly recommended. Florida is known for its unpredictable weather, and if your wedding date happens to be in the summer, you’ll be glad you have a tent when those afternoon storms move through!
The Howey Mansion is an amazing place when it comes to capturing dynamic wedding photos. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous, with mature trees dripping in moss, meticulous landscaping, and wide open fields of green lawn. The exterior of the home is castle-like and perfect for grand portraits. Inside, the foyer’s incredible stone, curved staircase is perfect for solo and couple shots. The dining room, ballroom, and other spaces are perfect for more formal portraits, too, that will make you and your partner look like a couple out of a “Once upon a time” fairy tale.
The Howey Mansion is not only a beautiful venue, but it’s also home to an incredible staff of event specialists who know exactly how to exceed all of your expectations. They’ll help you select your custom menu from their exclusive caterer, Arthur’s Catering, and make sure you’ve accounted for every necessary detail for the perfect event.
The Howey Mansion offers two wedding packages with their own unique benefits and perks, as well as the option to stay onsite in overnight accommodations!
